The current site of the Lin Fong Sports Centre has been used as a greyhound track since 1932. It then partly incorporated a sports field and was renamed ‘May 28 Stadium’ (a.k.a. Lin Fong Stadium) by the Macao Government in 1940. Until 1989, the stadium’s athletic field was completely covered by an all-weather tartan track financed by the government, which marked a milestone in Macao’s track and field athletics, when it embarked upon a new epoch of modernization. An indoor swimming complex was added in 1986 and served as the first public facility equipped with heated swimming pool. It comprises two pools, one of which is specially designed for the disabled. An indoor sports centre, which is ideal for a variety of indoor sports, was added following renovation and expansion in 1998.
