Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government (hereafter referred to as “the Sports Bureau”) adopts appropriate confidentiality measures to protect users’ privacy, but the responsibility of the Sports Bureau is only to protect users’ personal identification data obtained during log-in and event registration.

Ⅰ. Collection and Processing of Non-personal Data

1. If the user only browses the mobile application of Sports Bureau (hereafter referred to as “the app”) instead of submitting an application using the app, the app will not collect any data which can identify the user. However, the software used in the app will automatically record the user’s Internet domain name, IP address and region, and browsing history, along with the date and browsing time. Normally this data will only be used by Sports Bureau for statistical purposes. Unless there are hostile attacks during the user’s visit to the app, this data will not be used to trace the user.

2. When the app is used, the software operated may use “cookies” to record the user’s usage conditions, so that it can run according to the user’s habits and offer a better experience. If the user activates the detection of “cookies”, they may receive a warning message every time “cookies” are stored.

3. Departments may use the data collected by this app to send push notifications.

II. Collection and Processing of Personal Data

1. Whenever users attempt to provide personal data through the app, they are deemed to agree to the terms of this privacy statement and agree to the collection and use of data by the app in accordance with relevant regulations.

2. When using electronic services in the app, the user may need to submit personal information such as name, ID number/passport number, email address, date of birth, gender, photo, phone number and postal address, and may need to verify their identities through suitable electronic identification tools. Sports Bureau will use the data obtained through personal identification for the following purposes: application and transaction processing, event registration, and push notifications on Sports Bureau’s latest activities and sports news.

3. The servers of this app are maintained by a designated outsourcing company and regulated by Sports Bureau. All personal data collected on this app are protected by a strict encryption system. Only authorized people can process such data when necessary. In addition, the collection and processing of personal data are regulated by the relevant laws of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

4. The app will not hand over the user’s personal data to non-governmental entities unless the relevant entity is authorized to receive and process the data under the circumstances permitted by law and under consent from the user. The entire process of data processing by such non-governmental entities must also comply with relevant laws.

5. For the convenience of the user, some electronic services will display the data that the user has submitted, so that they do not need to fill in the data again and thereby shorten service time. This data is also displayed because the service or the government department in charge of the service needs to keep the data updated. If the data is out of date, the user can update it with the service department.

III. Protection of Personal Data

1. The staff of Sports Bureau are obliged to protect personal data, and the processing of personal data will be regulated by confidentiality measures. The data will be kept properly until it is no longer used for the purpose for which it was collected, or until the end of retention period specified by the government. At that time the data will be destroyed in accordance with regulations.

2. The user has the right to access, correct and update personal data stored in this app, or to directly access and correct the data received and stored by public departments or entities, judicial agencies, and non-governmental entities.

IV. Risks

This application has adopted secure communication protocol technology based on Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to protect personal data during data transmission on the Internet. However, there are still certain risks in data transmission on the public network. The data may be seen and used by unauthorized third parties. If the user does not want to take that risk, the data can be provided to Sports Bureau through means other than the Internet.

The website has hyperlinks to other government or non-government websites. When the user links to those external websites through these hyperlinks, it indicates that the user has left this website.
