Organized by the Macao Sport Development Board and co-organized by the Union of Neighbors Association of Macao, Macao Federation of Trade Unions and the Women’s General Association of Macao, the “2012 Family Sports Day” was held at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion on June 24th, with the aim of encouraging the populace to actively participate in sports and maintain healthy lifestyle, nurture young people’s interest to sports, strengthen parent-child relations and to establish a close-knit family relationship and spirit of teamwork. Some 300 teams with around 1,600 people participated in the event. Parents partnered with their children in various recreational and sports competitions. The scene glowed with parental love and the event was filled with a lively and warm atmosphere.
The activities were divided into three age groups: Group A (participants aged 7-10), Group B (participants aged 4-6) and Group C (participants aged 2-3). Each group competed in two recreation and sports activities and fought for the first, second, third prizes, as well as six merit awards. Meanwhile, participants were also able to enjoy themselves at the prize game booths and with performances on the stage.
The President of the Macao Sport Development Board, Mr. Vong Iao Lek, The Vice-Presidents of the Macao Sport Development Board, Mr. José Tavares and Mr. Pun Weng Kun, the Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Ms. Yuen Hoi Ching, the Head of the Division of Recreation and Sports of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau Mr. Philip Cheang Kai Meng, the President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, Mr. Lo King Chiu, the Chairwoman of the Women’s General Association of Macao, Ms. Lam Yuen Mui, the Vice Chairman of the Association of General Union of Residents of Macao, Mr. Choi Tat Ming, the Vice Chairman of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Tong Chak Sam, and several members of the Sports Committee and other guests presided at the opening ceremony and presented prizes to the winning teams of each age group.
