At the invitation of Macao Sport Development Board, the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports of Portugal visited Macao from 25th to 28th February and met Mr. Cheong U, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, in order to facilitate development in sports of MSAR and Portugal and strengthen the communication and cooperation between the two regions. Mr. Cheong U presented the youth affairs and sports in Macao to the Secretary of State and views on the development and communication of the sports industry between Macao and Portugal were exchanged.
During the visit, the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports of Portugal held meeting with the Sport Development Board to discuss the issues regarding the exchange in the field of sports in Macao and Portugal as well as the upcoming development and cooperation. Mr. Vong Iao Lek, the President of the Macao Sport Development Board, introduced the development of competitive sports and Sport for All in Macao while the Secretary of State made a brief introduction about the current state of the sports affairs in Portugal. He thought that cooperation of sports in Macao and Portugal could be strengthened on the existing foundation. In addition, the Secretary visited a number of sporting facilities including the Stadium of Olympic Sports Centre so as to know the daily training of the athletes in Macao.
The two parties believed that this exchange would further strengthen and consolidate the connection, friendship and cooperation in sports of both Macao and Portugal.
