The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Cheong U, the President of the Sport Development Board, Mr. Vong Iao Lek and the new administrative members of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China including the President, Mr. Ma Iao Hang, the President of the Executive Board, Mr. Lo Keng Chio, the Secretary-General, Mr. Chan Chak Mo and other members of the Executive Board and its Supervision Committee went on an observation visit to Beijing on 31st January.
On 1st February, the delegation was arranged to meet the Minister of the General Administration of Sports of China and the President of Chinese Olympic Committee, Mr. Liu Peng and other officials of the Committee. Mr. Liu Peng welcomed the new administrative members of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China and he encouraged them to make joint efforts for the development of Olympic sports. The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Cheong U, on the other hand, expressed gratitude to the General Administration of Sports of China and Chinese Olympic Committee for their persistent support and concern for Macao’s sports development. He said that their visit to Beijing was received warmly by the General Administration and the Chinese Olympic Committee and that their observation tour to Beijing’s sports facilities benefited the delegation significantly. The observation tour not only deepened both sides’ understanding of each other, but also enabled the members of Macao’s sports circles to know more about the country’s sports development.
During their stay in Beijing, the delegation visited the National Sports Training Center to learn about the developments of the country’s competitive sports. They also visited the National Gymnastics Training Center, the National Table Tennis Training Center and the National Athletes Training Center.
