To celebrate the May 1^st International Labor Day, the Macao Sport Development Board and the Macao China Basketball Association jointly organized the “May 1^st Basketball Invitational” at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion on May 1^st, 2013, with the aim of promoting spectacular sport events to the public and encouraging their participation in physical exercises as well as cultivating a life-long sports lifestyle on the meaningful festival. The Opening Ceremony was attended by Mr. Cheong U, the Secretary of Social Affairs and Culture, and distinguished guests.

The “May 1^st Basketball Invitational” was performed by the Macao United team against the Fujian men’s basketball team. Both started the match evenly and were neck to neck with each other, notwithstanding, Macao United finally hit higher score with brilliant performances and captured its victory with 108-83 over Fujian men’s basketball team.

To strengthen the youth cultural exchange between the two places, organizers arranged a pre-game basketball exchange activity for local youth to practice with Fujian men’s basketball team so as to increase the youth’s participation in basketball events and hence have themselves trained and improved.
