The 11th SportAccord International Convention took place in Saint Petersburg, Russia from 26th -31st May 2013. The Macao Sport Development Board promoted the development of Macao sports industry and introduced Macao’s development as an international city through booth and other publicity work to people from all over the world attending the exhibition and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) meetings.
This year’s Convention brought approximately one hundred exhibitors from all around the world including various governmental sports departments, tourism departments, international sports federations, sports services companies, sports equipment suppliers, sports organizations and sports media, in a total of some 2,000 participants.
The three Candidate Cities bidding to host the 2020 Olympic Games, Istanbul (Turkey), Tokyo (Japan) and Madrid (Spain) especially made their self-promotion at the Convention, and the result will be announced in September this year.
SportAccord Convention and the IOC held various sports sessions, forums and other related activities. Staff from the Macao Sport Development Board attended some of those activities, which offered the sports community a good opportunity to exchange knowledge, develop ideas and build relationships.
