Aiming to enable the public to experience different sport activities and obtain experts’ advice regarding sports and health, the Macao Sport Development Board (MSDB) has initiated “Sports and Health Consultation Service Point” since April 2009 in public areas where residents used to conduct physical exercises. The combination of callisthenic sports activities and health consultation services is well-received by the morning exercisers and hence many are eager to come and join.
The second season of this year’s Sport-Health Advisory Station was held on Sundays in April, May and June respectively at the Taipa Flower City Garden, the Hong Kung Temple Square and the Guia Hill (Guia Fortress). To let the public understand and perform proper sport techniques, the MSDB especially invited instructors of Sport for All Fitness and Recreational Classes to conduct demonstrations of various types of sport activities, for example, taichi, line dance, softball, aerobics, baduanjin, aerobic dance and qigong, thereby to enable the exercisers to approach sport activities with professional guidance and enhance their health qualities by suitable sport training. In addition, professionals from the Sports Medical Center also provided exercising residents free-of-charge health examination such as blood pressure, heart rate and body weight. With professional sports plans and suggestions on diet habits and health information, residents can hence have better knowledge on self-health-condition and conduct exercise via more efficient and safer means.
