Jointly organized by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Golf Association of Macao, authorized by both the Asian Tour and the Golf Association of Macao, and promoted by IMG, “the 15th Venetian Macao Open” with the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel as the title sponsor was staged at the Macao Golf and Country Club in Coloane from October 17 to 20. The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice Chairman of CPPCC National Committee, Mr. Edmund Ho Hau Wah, President of the Golf Association of Macao, Mr. Charles Lo, President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China, Mr. Ma Youheng and the Asian Tour Chairman, Mr. Kyi Hla Han.
The 2013 Venetian Macao Open is an important station of the Asian Tour. Besides title holder Gaganjeet Bhullar, two-time champion Zhang Lian-wei and three-time top 1 player on the Asian Tour Money List Thongchai Jaidee , the South African golfer Ernie Els who won the Grand Slam for four times also participated in the contest for the first time. They devoted themselves to the competition for the historical high prize of US800,000. Finally, Australian golfer Scott Hend won the championship with his excellent performance of 16-under-par 268 total. The first runner-up went to Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri and the second runners-up belonged to legendary South African golfer Ernie Els and Filipino contestant Elmar Salvador.
The host city Macao was also represented by four golfers, namely Xiao Jieyu, Xu Haojun, Yan Sihuang and Tang Chak Hou.
