Jointly organized by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Federation of Macao Sport General Association, the Macao Sports Carnival 2013 was held on October 27 at the Tap Seac Square. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the Chief Executive, Mr. Fernando Chui Sai On, and Mr. Chen Sixi, the Deputy Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Mr. Song Luzeng, the Director-General of External Affairs Department of the General Administration of Sport of China, Mr. Feng Tie, the Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR and other honorable guests.
This year’s Carnival attracted a total of 76 individual sports federations and associations, providing on-site booths including sports events introduction, photos display, entertaining sports games, quizzes, sports demonstrations and performances, photos exhibit and contest, writing contest, coloring competition and lucky draw, plus the newly-added sports activities broadcasting attracting residents from all age groups. Apart from various unique booths, an inflatable squash court and a mini ice hockey rink are also set on-site for the public to experience the fun of individual sports. The Carnival, which attracted a total of some twenty thousand people, was conducted in a lively atmosphere.
Having organized the Sports Carnival for its fourth consecutive years, the organizers hoped to promote diversified sports activities to the general public through all kinds of sports performances and promotions. Based on the interactive sports activities, residents may increase their sports knowledge as well as the interests in participating in more sports activities, wherein a good effect of promoting the message of Sports for All and enhancing one’s physical condition has been achieved.
