The “2014 Macao International Youth Judo Championships”, organized by the Judo Association of Macau and sponsored by the Macau Sport Development Board,was held at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion from July 19 to 20. The event attracted over 200 participating athletes from 12 countries and regions such as China, Japan, Korea, Australia, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong and Macao.
Having strong support from the International Judo Association, the Asian Judo League and the Macau Sport Development Board, the “Macau International Youth Judo Championships” is recognized by the International Judo Association and has become the third scoring competition after the Hong Kong and China Taiwan’s judo championships. It has attracted lots of high quality players to participate and compete for world ranking and for getting in the Youth Olympic Games and Asian Games.
51 athletes, with 28 male and 23 female,from Macao took part in the championship this year. With tenacious performances in the competitions, they won 6 gold, 9 silver and 18 bronze medals in total.
