To safeguard the safety of facility users, Macau Sport Development Board has always attached immense importance to the systematic operation of its facilities and their capacity to cope with emergency, conducting inspections and tests for the facilities every year. They were conducted as usual in 2014. With the co-ordination and co-operation of facility personnel and contracting companies in charge of system maintenance service, a series of dynamic tests for electricity, fire protection, air-conditioning and elevator systems, in addition to emergency drills, were successfully undertaken. The measures have ensured the safe use of facilities in daily operation and during large-scale activities.
Macau Sport Development Board hopes to enhance the resilience and communication skills of facility personnel when handling various cases of emergency through relevant tests and drills, with prevention knowledge promoted. Also, it hopes to test the operational stability of various hardware facilities and relevant systems in venues in case of emergency, and make corresponding adjustments for comprehensive procedures and excavation routes based on the test results. Hence, the life and safety of users can be protected, and the sports venues and facilities provided to the public can be optimised.
The tests and drills were held according to actual needs and condition of service at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion, Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre, Vitoria Sports Centre, Tamagnini Barbosa Sports Centre, D. Bosco College Sports Centre, Lin Fong Sports Centre, Olympic Sports Centre (Aquatic Centre / Stadium / Hockey Field / Multi-Purpose Zone / Badminton Zone), the Football and Athletics Field of Macao University of Science and Technology, Carmo Swimming Pools, the Sports Training Centre and Macao East Asian Games Dome. These measures were successfully completed on schedule.
