The election of Sports Committee Members 2016-2018 took place at 3 p.m. on 10th January at the multi-functional room on the third floor of the Stadium of Olympic Sports Centre. After a round of voting, ten Sports Committee members were elected, amongst them Chan Pou Sin for athletes, Ao Chi Wai for practical shooting, U Sio On for arrow shooting and Lam Kam Hong for billiard were elected for the first time. “Ballot king” Cheang Kuok Hang who got 51 votes stressed that the Sports Committee members play the roles of facilitating the communication between sports associations and the Government, and he would fulfill his duty and make contribution to sports development in Macao.
The ten Sports Committee members were elected under the supervision of the then President of Sports Bureau José Tavares, Out of the 56 qualified sports associations, 54 have appointed representatives to attend the voting. With one empty vote and another invalid, ten Sports Committee members were elected, namely Cheang Kuok Hang, Chan Weng Kit de Noronha, Chong Hon Kun, Ho King Lun, Chan Kwan Fai, Lai Pak Leng, U Sio On, Ao Chi Wai, Lam Kam Hong and Chan Pou Sin. Among them, Chan Kwan Fai was elected for the second time after the 2012-2013 term.
Elected as a Sports Committee member for the first time, Chan Pou Sin felt a heavier responsibility and she would try her best to work closely with other members to support the SAR Government, the Sports Bureau, sports associations and the programs in progress, and to formulate sound policies to promote development of various programs and encourage more residents taking part in sports activities.
