Traditionally, the 3rd day of the first lunar month of Chinese New Year is Chikou's Day (Chikou, literally "red mouth", is an epithet of "the God of Blazing Wrath."). When it would be ill-boding for people to visit each other on that day, it may be most suitable to do sports during the holiday. On February 10th, the Sports Bureau and Cycling General Association of Macau, China (ACMC) co-hosted the New Year Cycling Tour, which attracted 150 participants, including many leaders from the Bureau and local athletes that practiced what they preached and enjoyed the activity with the citizens.
The New Year Cycling Tour covered 21 km, starting from Taipa Olympic Sports Centre, passing through Rua do Desporto, Estrada da Baía de Nossa Senhora da Esperança, cycling lane in Taipa Seafront Leisure Zone, New Campus of University of Macau in Hengqin and Coloane Karting Track, thus enabling cyclists to do exercise while enjoying picturesque scenery along the way.
