2016 Macau International Kart Grand Prix took place in a succession of four days from 8th to 11th December at the Coloane Karting Track,Macao. Organized by Automobile General Association Macao-China and co-organized by the Sports Bureau and the Tourism Office, the event consisted of three races, namely, 2016 CIK-FIA Asia Pacific KZ Championship, Asian Karting Championship and Macao Cup (KZ). There were nine categories in the Asian Karting Championship. Over 150 Kart racers from 19 countries and regions took part in this year's event, with a great age span. The youngest was a seven-year-old Filipino contestant, Johary Suba, and the eldest was a fifty-nine-year-old Filipino contestant, Mikey Jordan.
After two days' warm-up races and two days' official races, the ranking was successfully decided. The CIK-FIA Asia Pacific KZ Championship was held on the 11th as the eye-catching finale. Twenty-seven world-class drivers from different countries and regions competed in the 25-lap race. In the beginning, the Spaniard Jorge Carlos Pescador ran slightly in the lead and had a bit of advantage once in the first few laps, followed by the Frenchman Tom Leuillet, who came along vigorously from behind and took the lead. Jorge Carlos Pescador fell behind and finished second. The Monaco's Louis Prette-Junior took the third. Of the three local drivers, João Afonso and Chang Wing Chung were unable to complete the race. Only Leong Hon Chio successfully completed 25 laps and finally finished tenth. On the other hand, in the Macao Cup (KZ), Leong Hon Chio completed the 15-lap race with 11 minutes 48 seconds 900, capturing the champion while the Macao driver Cheong Chi Hou and the Hong Kong driver Ng Kar Leung Patrick ranked second and third respectively.
