Macao's beach volleyball group players Lei Sin Kuan and Tam Kin Teng competed in '2017 Asian Beach Volleyball Championships (AVC)' held in Thailand during 14th -17th April.
On the second day of the competition on 15th May, Lei and Tam competed for the group ranking against Singapore's group whom they had competed against before. In the first round of the competition, Lei and Tam were in their optimal state soon. They played with flexible strategies after the game had started and were leading 6 to 1. Although their opponents wanted to catch up desperately, Lei and Tam took advantage of the wind at the venue and held every opportunity to gain points. The gap in the score was getting wider and they won the first round with 21 to 12. In the second round, Singapore's group performed stably and both engaged in a very intense competition. There were times that each group was leading, Lei and Tam only led with the score 18 to 17. At the final points, Lei and Tam were playing with morale; at last Lei spiked the key score in front of the net and scored 21 to 19 winning the first victory in the AVC. At the same time, this is also the first victory in the history of Macao's female beach volleyball players winning in the AVC. For this, Lei and Tam were delighted and said that the effort they made in the last half of the year was not useless. They also thanked the Volleyball Association and their coach, Lam Weng Kin for his support all along.
Finally, in the AVC group competition of this year, Lei and Tam gained 2 wins and 1 loss, ranking 17th among 29 teams.
