Sio Chi Hong, a year-four university student, is a table-tennis player from Macao. He has been the champion in many table-tennis events held in Macao. Being experienced, he has also participated in the Asian Games twice, representing Macao.
Sio Chi Hong was a bit plump in shape when he was a primary three student, so he joined a table-tennis course as his mother encouraged him. Initially, he practiced table-tennis just to work out and lose weight, but he started to seriously engage in table-tennis after his second year, when he won his first championship in a children's competition. At that time, he felt happy and developed a strong sense of accomplishment. Such enthusiasm has been motivating Sio Chi Hong to move forward on his table-tennis career path.
Afterwards, Sio Chi Hong became increasingly successful in Macao's table-tennis field, as he won a lot of champion titles in competitions ranging from those of the children's group to the senior group. This year, before he competed in the 18th Indonesian Asian Games, he defeated Cheong Chi Cheng and won the first champion trophy in the men's single senior group event. He also performed well, as expected, during the Asian Games. Although he lost to the champion Fan Zhendong, a contestant from the China team, in the tournament between the best 32 players, he relished the experience of competing against Fan Zhendong and he thought that he learned a lot from the match.
About to graduate from university, Sio Chi Hong stated that he was not certain about his professional career in the future, but he would continue to practice table tennis. His short-term goal was to win the champion title in the Ho Yin Memorial Cup Men's and Women's Table Tennis Single Event, actualizing his dream of winning all the major events. Meanwhile, he also hoped that he could continue to participate in more international events on behalf of Macao.
