This year, the Sports Bureau continued to cooperate with the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, providing a wide variety of summer activities for Macao children and teenage students from July to August 2018. A total of 484 cultural, leisure and sports activities were provided this year, amounting to 1,962 classes. A quota of 57,234 places were open for registration by children and teenagers.
To facilitate the communication between the Youth Affairs Committee and Sports Council, and at the same time inform the committee members of how summer activities were conducted, Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture invited members of both committees to the luncheon on July 25, and to observe some summer activities. Through observations, it is hoped that some plans will be formulated to optimize summer activities.
Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, stated that the SAR government is increasingly valuing teenage students' learning, as well as physical and mental activities. The Education and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Sports Bureau have been providing various summer activities for children and teenagers, hoping that they can spend their summer vacation properly, become well equipped, and enhance their competitiveness through participating in these activities.
