The Sports Committee hosted a general meeting at 11:00 on February 21 at the meeting room at East Asian Game Dome. The meeting was officiated by Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and President of the Sports Committee. Various issues were discussed.

In the meeting, Secretary Tam Chon Weng pointed out that as the nation announced “Outline Development Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, where in terms of building a Greater Bay Area rich in humanity, it is encouraged to facilitate the development of the sports-related affairs and the sports-related industry and collaboratively host a series of international and regional reputed sports events. In the future, the sports sector requires more open-mindedness and creativity to further advance the sports development in Macao and other cities Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area.

In the meeting, the budgets for fixed subsidies and special subsides of the year 2019 were also introduced. The preparatory works for large-scale sports events and sports-for-all activities were also reported. Macao SAR's sports delegations' involvement in various multisport events this year was also introduced. In addition, the preparatory work for the public sports facility network and sports facilities was also reported.

After the meeting, Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau, stated that the Athlete Training and Development centre was expected to be utilized in the fourth quarter of this year. The respective departments had been actively conducting preparatory and supporting work. The emphasis in the first phase was to provide sports stadiums and space for training.
