Public Sports Facilities Network Fully Reopened and Physical Fitness Monitoring and Assessment Restarted
In alignment with the SAR Government's epidemic prevention and control efforts, the Sports Bureau closed all stadiums and facilities in its“Public Sports Facilities Network”starting from late January. As the epidemic situation stabilizes, with the public's demand for physical exercise in mind, the Sports Bureau gradually reopened sports facilities in early March in phases according to the varying features of sports and venues. Soccer, basketball and volleyball venues, the last to reopen, have been back since June.
In response to the evolving epidemic, the Sports Bureau worked out a timetable to guide the phased reopening of sports venues and facilities starting from March. The Sports Bureau continued to make special arrangements in accordance with the epidemic prevention guidelines, including limiting attendance, mandating facial coverings, checking temperatures and scanning health codes. In the meantime, the Sports Bureau also stepped up the cleaning and disinfection at sports facilities.
In addition, the Sports Bureau resumed the 2020 Macao Citizens Physical Fitness Monitoring and Assessment on July 1st and is expected to finish off the process in late November. It is estimated that the physical fitness data of about 10,000 citizens will be collected. Adults and elderly people who are already registered for assessment will take the test from July to August and children and students will be tested from September to November.
