Since the Macao Sport Development Board launched the Public Sport Facilities Network in year 2006, more sport facilities have been provided to the Macao residents. In addition to satisfying the public’s needs for sports, the Board also pays high attention to safety of the facilities. In order to secure users’ safety when they use these facilities and ensure the smooth operation of the large-scale events organized, the Sport Development Board has provided training courses for safety operations of its facilities from August to December of 2010. Trainings include talks on fire prevention and fire extinguisher operating practices conducted by the Fire Services Bureau as well as fire drills and power cuts rehearsal training.
With the help of Fire Services Bureau and the Electricity Company, those trainings have been carried out orderly. Fire drills practices and power cut rehearsals in the Macao East Asian Games Dome, the Olympic Sport Centre, football/track and field stadium of Macao University of Science and Technology, Sport Training Centre, Carmo Swimming Pool and D.Bosco Sport Centre have been carried out successively.
Through the above trainings and practices, it is proven effective to raise the staff’s awareness of fire prevention, recognition of the evacuation routes and emergency measures when accidents occur. Working skills of the staff are further improved and normal operations of the equipments are ensured. The purpose of ensuring user safety could be achieved. Macao people can also enjoy better sport venues and equipments.
