To promote the cooperation between Macao and the mainland in the aspect of work relating to the disabled, The Cooperation Agreement on Joint Promotion of Projects for the Disabled was signed by the Macao SAR Government and the China Disabled Persons’ Federation and the China Foundation for Disabled Persons at Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Center on March 30th. In the presence of Dr. Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of Macao SAR and among other guests, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Mr. Cheong U signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of the Macao SAR Government.
Besides Mr. Cheong U, this Agreement was concurrently signed by Ms. Tang Xiaoquan, Vice-Chairperson of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation and Director General of the China Foundation for Disabled Persons and Mr. Jia Yong, Deputy Director General of China Disabled Persons’ Federation. This Agreement mainly focuses on the partnership programs relating to special art and sport for the disabled in Macao and the mainland. The Agreement aims to establish a platform of exchange in special art and as well as provide support for the communication and cooperation in the field of disabled sport. In the aspect of disabled sport development in particular, this Agreement will help to consolidate the various major competitions as well as various exchange activities, provide assistance to disabled athletes of Macao in the organization of pre-games training, conducting sport for all activities as well as exchanges and trainings, so as to jointly drive the development of disabled sport and personnel training, promote common development of the disabled sport in Macao and the mainland, and enhance the competitiveness of the disabled sport in Macao.
The disabled sport programs will be established under the leadership and guidance of the Macao SAR Government, the China Disabled Persons’ Federation and the China Welfare Foundation for the Disabled; while the organization and the implementation of the programs will be conducted by the Macao Sport Development Board, the Macao-China Paralympic Committee and Macao-China Recreation and Sports Association for the Disabled, the Macao Special Olympics and the Sports Association of the Deaf, China Disabled Sport Administrative Center.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Zhang Xiaoguang, Deputy Director of the Culture and Education Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR; Liu Jianbo, Director General of the Department of General Affairs of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in MSAR; Tam Chon Weng, Chief of the Office of the Chief Executive; O Lam, Secretary General of the Executive Council; Cecilia Cheong So Mui, Chief of the Office of Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture; Wang Tao, Director of the Publicity and Cultural Department of China Disabled Persons’ Federation; Iong Kong Io, Director of the Social Welfare Bureau; Vong Iao Lek, President of the Macao Sport Development Board, as well as members of the Rehabilitation Advisory Committee, members of the Sports Committee, and representatives from the said Association.
