Jointly organized by the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau and Macao Sport Development Board, the 2011 Public Entities Sports Festival kicked off in April. Following over two months of intense competitions, the Festival successfully concluded at the stadium of the Olympic Sports Centre on the 3rd of July whereby the winners of the different competitions were also awarded.
This year’s Public Entities Sports Festival attracted the participation of 58 public institutions and 2,769 public workers. This year’s Festival included 10 sports competitions and 3 recreational activities. Sport competitions featured this year included 7-a-side football, basketball, table tennis, badminton, squash, tennis, bowling, and swimming. Athletics was also newly added to the festival this year. In addition, to encourage more public workers to participate in the traditional festive activity, the result of the Macao Public Entities Small Dragon Boat Races competed during the Macao International Dragon Boat Race was also included in the scoring for this year’s festival. The public institution with the highest total score was awarded the “ Vitality Award”.
The football, basketball and recreational sport competitions were featured as closing competitions of the Festival. The organizers held the Awards Ceremony after the closing competitions, with attending guests included: Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau representative José Francisco de Sequeira, President of the Macao Sport Development Board Vong Iao Lek, Vice President of Pension Funds Ermelinda Maria da Conceição Xavier, Health Bureau Acting Deputy Director Leong Wing Bun, Vice President of Macao Sport Development Board Jose Tavares, Vice President of Social Security Fund Chan Bo Won, Member of the Administrative Committee of I.A.C.M. Ma Kam Keung, School Principal of the Police Cadet of the Judiciary Police of the Macao SAR Lou Iok Chun, Deputy Commander of the Fire Services Bureau Iao Iun Dong, Director of the School of Physical Education and Sports at the Macao Polytechnic Institute Yang Zai Huai, and Deputy General Manager of Macao Water Chu Wai Man.
