Held every four years, the “7^th National Intercity Games of People’s Republic of China” took place in the city of Nanchang, Jiangxi province from October 16^th - 25^th. A total of 57 sports delegations from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, the Xingjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, some 6034 athletes competed in the 28 events of the Games.

It was the third time that a delegation from Macao participated in the Games. A total of 84 local athletes competed in ten events this year: track and field, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, fencing, cycling, judo, archery, canoeing, and volleyball. The Games helped the athletes broaden their horizons, accumulate experience and raise their skill levels through the Games.

An observation group composed of members from the Macao sports community attended the opening ceremony and some of the events to cheer on the local athletes.
