Tennis is a sport which is suitable for people of all social strata and age groups. So as to promote the development of tennis in Macao, nurture young tennis players and lay a good foundation for the sport, the Macao Sport Development Board and Macao Tennis Association established the “Macao Tennis Youth Academy” in 2006. The academy recruits new students each year, encouraging young people to use their free time to practise tennis.
Organized by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Macao Tennis Association, the “Macao Tennis Academy Selection Day” took place on February 12th at the Tennis Academy. The event, which was warmly received by parents and young persons alike, attracted close to 200 boys and girls born between 1998 and 2006. Many parents showed up at the event to cheer for their children, creating a festive and warm atmosphere.
Neat and orderly, and dressed in their sport equipment, the high-spirited participants carried out tests according to the placements arranged by the organizers. Based on their performance, young athletes with potential were selected to receive long-term systematically training conducted by The Macao Tennis Association with experienced tennis coaches appointed as the instructors.
