The 2012 Macao Galaxy Entertainment FIVB World Grand Prix was held at the Macao Forum from June 8th to 10th. The Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, Mr. Chui Sai On attended the opening ceremony and golden dragon eye dotting ceremony. The distinctive golden dragon and lion dance kicked off this year’s Macao Galaxy Entertainment FIVB World Grand Prix in Macao.
The four teams which participated in the Macao Round were China, Argentina, Puerto Rico and Thailand. The teams competed in a round-robin format and after three rounds of matches, the Chinese team emerged victorious, regaining its title of champion of the Macao Round after a lapse of 7 years. Thailand was placed 2nd, with Puerto Rico ending up 3rd.
As for individual awards, Ma Yun Wen and Wei Qiu Yue of the Chinese team were awarded the Best Blocker and Best Setter respectively. Alvarez and Rosa from the Puerto Rico team were awarded Best Scorer and Best Spiker, the Best Server was awarded to Nootsara of the Thai team. The “Galaxy Entertainment Star”: My Favorite Player was awarded to Hui Ruo Qi of the Chinese team.
Sanctioned by the FIVB, the 2012 Macao Round of the FIVB World Grand Prix was co-organized by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China, with Macao Galaxy Entertainment Group as the presenting sponsor of the event and marked the 17th time a FIVB World Grand Prix event was held in Macao.
