The London 2012 Paralympic Games were held from August 29th to September 9th. The 14th Paralympic Games were a large-scale multi-sport event that took place right after Games of the 30th Olympiad, as well as the world’s highest level sporting event for the disabled, with 20 competition events held. More than 2,000 athletes from 166 International Paralympic Committee (IPC)’s member countries and regions participated in this huge sports event.
Participating in the Games for the seventh times, the Macao Sports Delegation sent 2 athletes to take part in wheelchair fencing as well as track and field events. Athlete Lao In I came in 9th in both the Foil and Épée wheelchair fencing categories and Tong Hio Sam achieved 9th place in the long jump event.
During the Games, the Macao Sport Development Board organized a sports observation tour in which it not only attended the opening and closing ceremonies, it also visited the Macao Sports Delegation and offered express encouragement and boost the morale of the two Macao athletes.
The 2016 Paralympic Games will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
