The second Sports Committee meeting in 2012 was held on July 13th at the conference room of the Macao East Asian Games Dome. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Cheong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and the President of the Sports Committee.
During the meeting, presentations were made reporting on the status of the sports activities of the 2012 Summer Activities and on the Conference for the Third China’s National Physical Fitness Surveillance & International Seminar of Physical Fitness Research held in June.
In addition, the relevant governmental departments also presented the plan on the construction of additional recreational and sports facilities during the meeting, including two recreational areas by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM). Facilities such as climbing walls, cycling tracks, walking trails, outdoor fitness equipment and children’s playgrounds will be set up within the recreational area facing the Ocean Gardens buildings in Taipa. A 7-a-side sand football court and a roller hockey rink will also be incorporated into the recreational area within the Hac Sa Village. The Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) also presented the operating hours of its youth facilities and it will continue its effort and collaboration with the schools to open its sports ground to the public so as to reach the objective of merging the school campus with the soceity.
The committee members discussed the different items on the agenda and proposed a number of countermeasures.
