The 9th University Games of The People’s Republic of China was held in Tianjin from September 8th to 18th, under the objective of “unity, progress, civilization and education”. A total of 4,700 athletes from China’s 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. as well as the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, competing in 12 competitive events including: track and field, swimming, football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, Wushu, aerobics, orienteering, taekwondo, shuttlecock and bridge. Macao sent out a Sports Delegation of 61 members to participate in track and field, swimming, table tennis, shuttlecock and volleyball events.
With the outstanding performance in the swimming events, the Macao swimming team collected one gold, two silver and two bronze medals, a total of 5 medals in the competition. In addition, the delegation also broke a total of four local records and seven Macao university student records in the track and field and swimming events.
Held every four years, the next University Games of The People’s Republic of China will be held in 2016 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.
