The Asia Youth Sports Exchange Games 2012 were held at the Komazawa University Olympic Park, in Tokyo, on September 2nd.
This was a sports event organised by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to strengthen the exchanges between youths from different cities in nearby countries and regions, including Tokyo, Macao, china, Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Manila, Seoul and Bangkok. Through exchanges and competition in sports, the Games sought to enhance mutual understanding between young athletes from different parts of Asia, as well as broaden their horizons, thereby benefiting their health and growth.
Macao sent a Sports Delegation comprising 3 male and 3 female athletes to participate in the badminton event. Although Macao won no medals, our athletes were commended for the efforts, as they gave their best to compete against their opponents and showing true sportsmanship The exchanging of skills through competition allowed our athletes to also examine their own shortcomings which will be of great help in their future training. Meanwhile, the exchanges with other Asian cities not only deepened mutual understanding, but also helped promoting Macao, an additional bonus which extends beyond the competition.
