Jointly organized by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) and the Macao Sport Development Board, the 3rd Macao Recreational Festival was held at various locations in Macao from June 23rd to July 1st.
Focusing mainly on promoting traditional games and recreational activities from different parts of the world, the Recreational Festival offered 15 major events, including: “Traditional Games from Around the World”, “Rally Paper”, “Paper Airplane Throwing Contest”, “Gateball Tournament”, “Sport & Recreation Day”, “Recreation Day for the Disabled” and “Beach Recreational Fun Day”.
The aims of the Recreational Festival are to promote recreational activities to the public before the summer holidays and disseminate the importance of active participation in activities and exercise, so as to allow urban residents who live a busy life to relieve their stress and promote close family harmony, while enjoying the fun the activities bring. Furthermore, the Festival also served to promote the various traditional games and allow these games to be passed down to the next generation.
In order to promote the message of health awareness and active participation in community activities to the disabled, the organizer arranged an activity titled “Recreation Day for the Disabled” for the mentally-handicapped, as well as deaf, blind and physically disabled persons and their families so as to establish a mutual acceptance and strengthen community harmony.
