Jointly organized by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Macao Elderly Sports Association, in association with the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macao, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions , the Women’s General Association of Macao and the Macao Polytechnic Institute Seniors Academy, the 2012 Macao Elderly Sports Day was held at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion on September 16th, where more than 2,100 people participated.
The Macao Elderly Sports Day has, since 2006, provided a large-scale platform every year for the local elderly to exercise and to share the fun of physical exercise with their families. The aim of the activity is to encourage the elderly to actively engage themselves in physical exercise, enrich their leisure life and develop a lifestyle of lifelong exercising.
The Sports Day featured 15 booths demonstrating 8 different recreational and sports activities, as well as three physical examination stations. The organizers also arranged wonderful performances such as “Sheng Shi Lian Hua” calisthenics, line dances, Tai Chi with double fan, Rouli Qiu routines, Yang Ko dances (rural tolk dance) and Square Dance to liven up the atmosphere.
