The Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) and the Macao Sport Development Board jointly organize summer activities every year during the months of July and August to provide youngsters and students with wide-ranging and vivid activities during the summer holidays, so as to encourage them to use their leisure time properly and enhance all aspects of learning and experiences. This year, a total of 344 sports, cultural and recreational events were held, with 1,472 classes providing more than 47,000 openings.
In order to understand the development status of the summer activities and enhance the communication between the Youth Affairs Committee and the Sports Committee, the chairpersons of these committees and Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Mr. Cheong U, hosted a luncheon on July 13th for the committee members and subsequently visited several summer activities, including cultural and recreational activities such as oil painting, Japanese language, resin clay classes, confidence building training camp and line dances being held at the Estrela do Mar Catholic School, and sports activities such as bowling, squash, tennis and shooting at the Bowling Centre.
While the visits to the activities allowed the members of the two committees to obtain a greater understanding of the implementation of the summer activities for the local youth, the organizers also took this opportunity to obtain the valuable views of the committee members in order optimize future related works.
