Sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), presented by the sponsor Galaxy Entertainment Group, and jointly organized by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China, in association with the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Macao 2013 has become one of the sport brand events in Macao, both local citizens and visitors from neighboring areas, were attracted by the event every year. Bulgaria, China, Cuba and the Netherlands were playing in this year’s Macao leg.
The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Cheong U, and other honorable guests attended the opening ceremony of the tournament, which was held between August 2 and 4 at the Macao Forum. After six intense matches, the coach Lang Ping led the Chinese team won the tournament, whilst Bulgaria took the second place and the Netherlands took the third. Regarding the individual awards, chief spiker of the team Wang Yimei received “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player” award while the young Chinese player Zhu Ting was awarded the “Best Scorer” and the “Best Spiker”, and Ma Yunwen was awardwd the “Best Server”. Robin De Kruijf and Femke Stoltenborg from the Netherlands were awarded respectively the “Best Blocker” and the “Best Setter”.
Apart from this, led by the head coach Lang Ping and the leader Hu Jin, the national team players Liu Xiaotong, Yao Di, Joe Ting, Liu Congcong, Liu Dan and several young players exchanged their techniques with twenty more male and female local youth volleyball athletes. By dividing into different small groups, the national team players conducted demonstrations and trainings to the youth players, shared their pains and joys in playing volleyball plus their feelings to success and failure, also, taught them with volleyball skills and playing experiences so as to encourage the youngsters to practice harder, wherein the youth volleyball players in Macao did gain a lot with their horizons much broadened
