To develop and promote karate in Macao, as well as to nurture teenage karate athletes and encourage teenagers to participate more in sports, the Macao Sport Development Board and the Macao Karate-do Federation jointly organized the ‘Macao Karate Youth Academy Recruitment Day’ on 18th August in the Sports Training Centre.
The recruitment activity targeted at teenage boys and girls born between 1997 and 2003. Participants were arranged to undergo a series of tests as instructed by the coaches from the organizers, which included speed, response, flexibility and nimbleness. Evaluation was done by a team of experienced coaches from the Macao Karate-do Federation.
Through a sports training academy, the organizers hope to provide systematic training for the teenagers who are interested in engaging in karate, as well as to discover more potential teenage athletes for echelon formation in the Macao team.
