The “Public Entities Sport Festival” – jointly organized by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau – was designed to enable staff from public entities to develop a habit of regular exercises, to improve their living quality, while at the same time to nurture team spirit and enhance cross-departmental communications and mutual friendship, therefore to provide better services to Macao people and together to create a civil service team in harmonies and healthy spirits. The festival has been well-received by staff from public entities ever since 2003; while the initial person-time of participants was only around 900, this year’s person-time has already reached more than 2,900 and evidently, year by year more and more staff members from public entities took part in the event.
Held during May to July, this year’s festival was divided into two major parts: Sports competitions and Recreational games and activities. Kicked off in May, the ten sports competitions included 7-a-side men’s football, basketball, table tennis, badminton, squash, tennis, bowling, swimming, track & field as well as dragon boat (Macao Public Entities Small Dragon Boat Race). Three recreational games and activities were also held on the last day of the event and in which the finale perfectly pulled down the closing curtains for the beautiful festival.
After two months’ keen competitions started from May, winners of each competition were successively generated, meanwhile, staff from various public entities also participated in the recreational games activities held at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion, wherein the team spirits and friendships between the staff were fully displayed. With the intense and exciting air throughout the competitions, all entities one-by-one cheered for their colleagues on court and onsite you could see nothing else but a lively and joyful environment.
The Judiciary Police won the most remarkable “Energy Award” for their third successive year at the award ceremony after the recreational games and activities have finished. Only by support and active participation from all public entities can the event achieve its complete success.
