Attended by more than 2,000 people, the 2013 Macao Elderly Sports Day – jointly organized by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Macao Elderly Sports Association, and supported by the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macao, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, the Women’s General Association of Macao and the Macao Polytechnic Institute Seniors Academy – was successfully held at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion on 11th August, at which the atmosphere was joyful and lively.
To entertain the audience at the opening ceremony, various performances such as Qigong, Samba, Softball, Yangko Dance, Lotus Aerobics and Elderly Aerobics were demonstrated by different organizations. The major activities of the event were recreational and sports activities, therein fifteen booths for recreational and sports activities and eight for games were set up onsite along with three physical fitness assessment booths.
Stepped in its eight editions, the organizers of the Macao Elderly Sports Day aim to provide a common platform for the elderly and the public citizens to share fun of doing sports through the Sports Day, whilst further promote the vision of “Sport For All for Better Health” – to encourage the elderly to participate more in exercises and form a regular habit of exercising for a healthy life.
