In order to arouse the interests of citizens in sports for all, disseminate information of sports activities throughout Macao, encourage citizens to actively participate in physical activities and promote the healthy habit of exercising on a regular basis, the Macao Sport Development Board organized the ‘Sports for All Day’ on a monthly basis in various social communities, attracting a great number of citizens to participate in the event.
In the third quarter of this year, ‘Sports for All Day’ was held in the Areia Preta Park, the Iao Hon Garden and the Recreational Area in Rua do General Ivens Ferraz on 20th July, 17th August and 21st September respectively. A total number of around 9,250 person-times participated in the activities.
Featuring a series of demonstration performances by the instructors and the students of Sport for All Gymnastic Classes, the event enabled citizens to learn and experience various gymnastic exercises. The neat exercises and lively music attracted and delighted many citizens.
In addition, professionals from various sports associations were asked to teach citizens the proper way to playing various sports, and set up a number of recreational and sporting activities providing souvenirs to participants. These activities included rouliqiu, hockey, chess, bowling, squash, rope skipping, table tennis and badminton. Through personal involvement, citizens have a better understanding of the sports activities and show a stronger interest in them. Moreover, parents also brought their children to the ‘Sports for All Day’.
