In order to continue the promotion and popularization of sports for all, disseminate information of sports activities to each and every community, encourage citizens to actively participate in sports activities and hence improve their physical conditions, the Macao Sport Development Board has been organizing the “Sport-Health Advisory Station” every Sunday since 2009 at various leisure facilities and public venues in which many citizens often do exercises. The Services include imparting proper ways of exercising, providing physical fitness checkups, and offering related sports and health consultation services to citizens. The series of activities have attracted many athletes and the general public. Among which, the “Sport-Health Advisory Station” held in July, August and September this year in the Floral Garden, the Leisure Zone at Avenida Marginal do Lam Mau and the Leisure Zone at the Reservoir respectively drew a total of 3,654 person-times of participants.
During the event, instructors and students of Sport for All Gymnastic Classes demonstrated a series of sports activities, including line dance, aerobic dance, dance sport, aerobics, qigong, baduanjin, taijiquan and rouliqiu. Through inviting professionals to work out with citizens, the Board achieved the goals of allowing citizens to learn and experience various sports activites, imparting the proper way to perform exercises, sharing the fun of sports activites, encouraging citizens to develop the healthy habit of regular exercises, and hence enhancing their immune systems. Besides, citizens also enjoyed free physical fitness checkups conducted by medical professionals of the Sports Medical Centre of the Macao Sport Development Board. Physical conditions like blood pressure, heart rate and weight of participating citizens were recorded to provide them with professional advices on sports plans – help them choose the appropriate fitness activities and set the adequate amount of exercise accordingly. In addition, the dietary habits of the participants were also reviewed for giving further advices. Thus, participants are paying more attention to improve their health and exercise in a safer and more effective manner through the activities.
