The 3rd Lusofonia Games took place in Goa, India from 18th to 29th January. More than 700 athletes from 11 countries and regions attended this year’s Games, including l07 athletes from the Macao sports delegation who competed in 9 sporting disciplines: athletics, basketball, football, judo, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, beach volleyball and wushu (Sanshou, Taolu).
Being not afraid of other great opponents and staying calm in the face of adversity, athletes from Macao fully played their games in the athletics, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball and wushu disciplines, which made the city winning 15 gold, 9 silver, and 14 bronze medals and ranking third on the medal table.
During the Games, a sports observation delegation led by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Cheong U, attended the opening ceremony and some games, cheering up the local athletes.
