The inauguration ceremony of the President of Macao Sport Development Board was held on 16th May. Under the supervision of Cheong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, the President José Tavares assumed his duty.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the headquarter of the Macao Sport Development Board and the President José Tavares, took oath of office and signed the inaugural certificate under the witness of Cheong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, and Ms. Cheung So Mui Cecília, Chief of the Office of Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture. Several heads of government department, members of the Sports Committee and from the sports community were invited to attend the ceremony.

President Tavares indicated that the Board would continue to strengthen the work stated in the policy this year in the areas of promoting sports for the general public and competitive sports. His team would study additional ways on hardware facilities for a more reasonable allocation and mobilization of resources, so as to improve the utilization rate of the venues in place. At the same time, he also intended to support development of various sports associations to become more professional through more effective coordination of policies, resources and technologies.
