The “Macao Wushu Youth Academy Fun Day” organized by the Macau Sport Development Board and the Wushu General Association of Macau was held on 29th June at the Macau International Shooting Range. The organizers did not only hope the parents have a better understanding of students’ progress, but also raise public awareness in the daily training and operations of the wushu academy. The event has received overwhelming responses and attracted about 400 students and parents. Apart from the performances at site, there were also game booths, talent shows and other activities that were popular among the participants, setting a lively and joyful scene.
Under the great support from the government and the public, Macao Wushu Youth Academy has gone through seven years with 1,400 teenagers having received its wushu training. Some outstanding students have made remarkable achievements in school team competitions, Macau Youth Cup, Macau Championship, Asian and World Junior Championships. While promoting the development of wushu, the academy also pays attention to the overall development of young people, advocating the dual discipline of study and sports, good character and learning. On the Fun Day, 47 students were awarded the “three-excellence certificate of merit” (training, competition, cultural learning), among which there were five students who have been awarded this recognition for five years successively.
