To further strengthen sports exchange between Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao, and foster talented reserves while providing young athletes with more opportunities to participate in competition, the Sport Development Board of the Macao SAR Government has been hosting ‘Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao youth Football Exchange Activities’ since 2006 under the framework of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Sports Development and Co-operation Agreement. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government also began to organise the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Basketball Exchange Activities inHong Kongfrom 2008.
Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government in association with the Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province and the Macao Sport Development Board of the Macao SAR Government, the 8th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Basketball Exchange was held at Hong Kong Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground on 24th January and 25th January 2015.
Results of the 8th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Basketball Exchange are as follows: Macao men’s team was crowned champion, while Guangdong and Hong Kong were awarded first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively. Hong Kong won the women’s championship, withGuangdong andMacao snatching first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.
Since Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao jointly signed the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Sports Development and Co-operation Agreement in 2003, the parties have strived to develop youth sports. This year’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Basketball Exchange marks the eighth consecutive year of the event. The organisers wish to create opportunities for youths from the three regions to demonstrate their skills and learn from others, and to promote friendship among these youths.
