To raise public interest in Sports for All and to spread the message about sports activities among all social sectors, the Macao Sport Development Board has organised the ‘Sports for All Day’ on a monthly basis in various venues to encourage residents to actively participate in sports and develop the healthy habit of exercising.
In the first quarter of this year, Sports for All Day took place in Areia Preta Urban Park on January 17th, the leisure area between Wang Hoi and Wang Kin Buildings on February 14th and the leisure area on Rua do General Ivens Ferraz on March 14th. The total number of participants was 8,450.
For on-site activities, instructors and participants from the ‘Sport for All Fitness and Recreational Classes’ were there to demonstrate a wide range of sports to allow the public to learn and understand various sports activities and skills, with professional instructors from different general sports associations demonstrating correct sports movements and methods. Sports and recreational activities with prizes - including hockey, Chinese chess, squash, table tennis, badminton, softball, rope jumping, and hula hoop - were also held, so that residents were allowed to engage in the activities in person and reinforce their knowledge of different sports activities, thereby triggering their love for sports and hence they will have regular sports training and build up good body immunity.
The events were well welcomed by the public, who fully engaged in the spirit of the games. Some of them also brought their children to enjoy the activity, wherein not only did they tighten their family bonds but gave their children a relaxing and meaningful holiday. A warm and energetic atmosphere pervaded the sports venue.
