The 2015 Macao Sports Day for the Disabled, hosted by the Macao Sport Development Board and co-organised by the Macao-China Paralympic Committee & Macao-China Recreation and Sports Association for the Disabled, the Macao Special Olympics, and the Macao Sports Association of the Deaf, was successfully held at the Indoor Pavilion of the Olympic Centre Stadium on 12th April 2015, attracting over 2,000 participan-times.
The Macao Sports Day for the Disabled has already stepped into its 13th year. Every year, the disabled and their families actively participate in the event and try their best, acting with sportsmanship to go from strength to strength. A total of nine recreational and sports activities in tandem with three physical fitness assessment stations were set up at the venue, enabling the public to share the fun of exercising with the disabled and their families via various recreational and sports activities. Wushu athlete Huang Junhua was specially invited to the event this year, demonstrating his support and encouragement of the disabled, pushing forward the Sport for All philosophy of ‘Let’s exercise for our health’.
Through the Sports Day, the organisers hoped to disseminate the positive message of ‘A harmonious society, social integration of people with or without disabilities, life-long participation in sports’, arouse public awareness and understanding of the disabled, and encourage the disabled to actively participate in social activities.
