To encourage citizens to engage in sport during their leisure time in order to enhance their physical wellbeing and health as well as developing the healthy habit of regular exercise, the Macao Sport Development Board has set up the Sport-Health Advisory Station at various popular public recreation venues. The station, which seeks to impart proper ways of exercising, providing physical fitness check-ups, and offering related sports and health consultation services to residents, has been positively welcomed by the public, enticing many athletes and the public at large.
To disseminate the message of Sport for All across all social sectors and the community at large and to encourage residents to exercise, the Sport-Health Advisory Station held every Sunday will hold a series of exercise demonstrations, including softball, dancesport, Taijiquan, line dance, gymnastics series, Baduanjin, aerobic dance, gymnastic Qigong and Macao gymnastics series. Residents are invited to participate in the event, whereby they can learn and experience various sports activities in person and hence feel the benefits of exercise. In addition, the Station provides free physical fitness check-ups conducted by medical professionals of the Sports Medical Centre, monitoring resident’s blood pressure, heart rate and weight, etc. so that residents can keep an eye on their physical condition. Professional advice on sports plans and health information is also provided to encourage residents to lead a healthy life.
