On October 15th, the 2015 Macau Sports Carnival was jointly held by Macao Sport Development Board and Federation of Macau China Sports General Associations in Tap Seac Plaza and attended by almost 30,000 people. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social and Cultural Affairs, Pan Yundong, Deputy Commissioner of Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macau S.A.R., José Tavares, President of Macao Sport Development Board, Zhang Xiaoguang, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao SAR, Fan Guangsheng, Deputy Director of Mass Sports under General Administration of Sport of China, Leong On Kei, Ma Chi Seng and Chan Chak Mo, members of Legislative Council, Lo Keng Chio, President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, Ma Iao Hang, President of the Federation of Macau Sport General Association, Chan Weng Kit de Noronha, Chairman of Federation of Macau China Sports General Associations, and several Sports Committee members.
76 sports associations and sports clubs participated in the carnival this year. The carnival offered 62 fun sports games and 4 small competitive sports items. It also added some new elements by inviting the Scout Association of Macau, Macau Flying Eagle Association and the honor guard of Hou Kong Middle School (Macau) to perform on the scene and adding a face-painting area and a human shape cardboard photography area, which have enriched the event to be much more attractive.
Macau Sports Carnival has been held for six years. Its organizers have been encouraging the public to do more exercise and participate in various sporting events to increase their interest in sports and promote the development of popular sports.
