The 2016 Summer Olympics was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. China ranked third on the medal list with 26 golds, 18 silvers and 26 bronzes. Besides, Chinese athletes won first Olympic gold medal in history in cycling and taekwondo competition respectively, and China's women's volleyball team won gold under the guidance of coach Lang Ping, which shows people around the world that Chinese people will never give up and will never dare to scale new heights of fighting spirit. Strong Strength and Tremendous Achievement
China athletes of this Olympic are the youngest in the recent three Olympics that their average age is 24. Although many new athlete talents appeared this time, China athletes still remained at the top of the medal list in traditional Olympic games such as diving and table tennis. Renqian, from China's Diving Team is the youngest to have won a medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and China' Table Tennis Team even won four Olympic Gold medals. In diving and taekwondo sporting events, China team also makes a breakthrough. Gong Jinjie and Zhong Tianshi won gold and set world record in team sprint cycling - track and Zhao Shuai, was the first ever Chinese taekwondo practitioner who won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics Men's 58 kg. And, furthermore, with the support of the country, the China women's national volleyball team won gold medal after 12 years in clash with Serbia.
Promotion of Olympic Spirit
China Olympic winners who won gold medals at Rio Olympics visited Macao from August 28 to September 1 to perform a series of demonstrations to members of the public in sports and to share their experiences of the Olympics with Macao young locals. There are welcoming events including “Experiences sharing with Macao young locals”, “Our pride - the National Olympic elite athletes Macao Gala”, ”National Olympic elite athletes and the Macao youth sports exchange activities”. National Olympic elite athletes also visited local communities, providing Macao public with an opportunity to know about the athletes’ true sportsmanship and to share happiness and joy with them. Through experiences sharing and close contact, Macao residents not only have a deep understanding of Olympic spirit but also know about the spiritual qualities of athletes. National Olympic elite athletes has set a good example for Macao local athletes to aim high, to strive hard to achieve future goals, and to make uninterrupted breakthroughs.
