Authorized by International University Sports Federation (FISU) and Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF), undertook by Macau Universitarian Sports' Association (ADUM), sponsored by Macau Sports Bureau, co-organized by Macao Polytechnic Institute, University of Macau and Macau-China Basketball Association, the 2nd Asia University 3x3 Basketball Tournament was held from 20 July to 23 July in University of Macau Gymnasium. Macau team performed outstandingly in such competition and got the 2nd prize.
The First Got into Final Top Four
The tournament was divided into 4 days and there were 12 teams from different countries and regions. Macau team performed under par in the first match, players were out of form which caused them lost to their contender – Indonesian team. They played good performance in the coming match after having a better conditional adjustment. They won against the Philippines team without any difficulty and also beat one of the strongest opponents - China Civil Aviation Team. At last, Macau team kept high-level performance and beat his rival – Korea Team successfully and got into top four with brilliant result – 4 out of 5. They also met with their old opponent - Hong Kong team in the final top four.
Lost to Iran Team and Got The 2nd Prize
Macau team coach Vong Vai Fong knew which kind of basketball tactics Hong Kong team would use so he taught his strategy to Macau team before the final top four started. At first, Macau team was in the lead, team member Lai Ka Tong played skillfully and helped Macau team maintain advantage in the match and also defeated Hong Kong team successfully. In the final match, it was Macau team versus Iran team. Although Iran team was in a dominant position because of their great statures, Macau team still tried his best to battle with the enemy. It was a pity that Macau team lost to Iran team at last but still got the 2nd prize after the match.
