The “Summer Activities 2016” jointly organized by Sports Bureau and Education and Youth Affairs Bureau was held in July and August. More than 20,263 participants signed up and a total of 38,584 applications were completed. The activities were so welcomed that the registration rate exceeded 90.4%. The Summer Activities contributes to discovering new talents for the sports circle in Macao. Many students have grown interests in the activities they attended and chose to continue the training after the original program is finished.
Every summer vacation, the Macao S.A.R. Government is committed to providing a wide range of summer activities for children and young students aged between 4 and 25. This year, there were more than 400 activities with nearly 2,000 classes and over 50,000 quotas, an increase of more than 600 quotas compared to last year. The sports activities were planned as a whole by Sports Bureau and included 7 major sports categories including ball games, water sports, martial arts and combat sports, sports dancing and chess, other sports activities, theme camps and day activities, adding up to 129 activities, 851 classes and 25,060 participants. Meanwhile, the recreational activities organized by Education and Youth Affairs Bureau consisted of 294 activities in 10 major categories, 1,044 classes and 28,526 participants.
